I'm not allowed to upload a replacement small image that appears in the URL. I wanted to sub in an "OLY" icon I made. Can you change my permissions temporarily so I can do this? -Marcy
Sure thing, sounds cool! I gave you access. -MicahEllison
Hooray! What do you think? It would be better if I could find an Oly in that font that doesn't get smaller on the right side. But it'll do for now. I'll keep an eye out. -Marcy
It looks great! I think the slanted baseline looks kind of cool, actually! Nice work! -MicahEllison
Thanks! I'd make the background transparent, but apparently I no longer have software that does that anymore. -Marcy
I tried taking the tinylogo.png and making it transparent, but it was hard to do a clean job with that size. Did you scale it down from a larger image? —JasonAller
Yeah, I did. I'll bet the background isn't totally clean. Well perhaps it will do for now and if anyone wants to start over and do a better job, that'd be awesome. -Marcy
Do you have the original, full sized one online? I poked around a bit and didn't see it. I also agree that the tiny one isn't going to make a good transparent background without going back to the original. —JabberWokky
I think that the two following files qualify as fair use:
and
. Maybe the Oly.png can be the basis for someone else to use as the wiki logo? What would the deciding factors be on fair use in this case? A poster company makes a poster, presumably licensed, from a beer company that names itself after a town. Someone then takes three letters from the company logo retaining the font (which can't be copyrighted) and the colors (which can be trademarked) and cleans up that portion of the picture of the poster and makes alterations to the outline of the font and picks a normalized value for each color which may or may not match the Pantonetm values that the company used and submits the result for use by a Create Commons non-profit use. I think we are in the clear. —JasonAller
